Quincy Carr truly feels blessed by his gift for comedy, a blessing so full that he is compelled to share it with the world. Born in Houston, but shaped by his later home in Austin, Quincy began honing his varied skills from a young age. His penchant for sharp wit and comedy enjoyed an early development, and while growing up he was known as the funny, wild, and energetic one… the epitome of the ‘class clown’.
After graduating from Westwood High School in 1994 and a stint in the United States Navy, Quincy plugged ahead toward his long-visualized goals of owning his own businesses, even as he made sure the ends kept meeting. While he was employed as a telemarketer, a co-worker suggested that he try out an open mic night at a comedy club in Virginia Beach… and the rest was history, for Quincy instantly fell in love with his new-found talent. He re-examined the world around him, circumstances and people and settings, and grew to understand a few cardinal rules: that comedy is more than just telling a joke with a funny punch line. That comedy is engaging the audience; it is making them laugh using material created from the most real of life experiences. When asked what he loved most about the craft of comedy, Quincy noted the opportunity he has to give an audience a chance to escape from their everyday lives and listen to what goes on in his serious and silly world. And with his involvement in several different occupations, everything he encounters and experiences is saved in his database for potential comedy bits and sketch considerations.

As word of his comedic skill passed along, Quincy quickly moved from emceeing at local comedy clubs to featuring and headlining at colleges, churches, and corporate functions across the country. Since 1999, he has worked with some of the top comics in the business – like Bobcat Goldthwait, Kevin Hart, Bruce Bruce, and Ricky Smiley. Then, in 2007, Queen of Comedy Sommore discovered Quincy on MySpace, and brought him to open for her at Austin’s Cap City Comedy Club…giving him an opportunity to open for his first time ever in front of his hometown friends and family. One more thing that Quincy recognizes is that in order to be skilled, one must watch and learn the skill in practice, much like good writers must in turn be voracious readers. Among his influences, Quincy counts Bill Cosby and his classic, clean storytelling style, the interaction of Dane Cook with his audience as well |

as his ability to paint a verbal picture that translates to aural-alone comedy, and the brilliant, deep thoughts and subject matter around which Wanda Sykes builds her bold and brash routines. Quincy continues to step up his comedic game. Ever striving to remain clean, his family-ready humor has been celebrated in venues as diverse as the Funnybone Comedy Club and Restoration Kingdom Church. Keep an eye on the calendar and don’t miss out as this young, polished, and on-the-go entertainer performs near you! |
