Ralph LaGuerre, a stand up regular at the Funky Buddha Lounge, kicked off the show and Quincy Carr, a comedian who recently opened up for Kevin Hart, psyched up Pharoah’s crowd.

Along with impersonations, all three acts had racial jokes and playful jabs at people with disabilities. Although reactions were mixed at times, most of the audience laughed at each performer’s punchlines.

Said of Quincy Carr, “His comedy was really blunt, really out there,” Chloe Parson, a sophomore business major, said. “I liked it.”

At one point Carr made a joke about the Colorado shooting during the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises, which gave students mixed reactions. “That shit that happened in Colorado,” Carr joked. “Never would have happened if the suspect was black.”

“That’s not funny,” one student in the audience mumbled.

However, the jokes that got the most laughs were about Facebook, getting your picture taken at traffic lights, and problems with stuttering. Despite the few uncomfortable laughs, Carr warmed up the crowd and kept students stomach’s in knots from laughing so hard.

“I thought it was really good,” said Kathryn Dunkley, a sophomore accounting major. “They should have more events like this.” <a

The “Quality Comedy Series” is the only all CLEAN adult comedy show in VA, which features a great pre-show live jazz performance! Remember the season opener featuring a series first, Kevin Lee, a comedian & magician? Well, on Wednesday May 15, 2013 at the Virginia Beach Funny Bone, Quincy Carr has another first for this fast growing series… AN ALL FEMALE LINEUP! Quincy’s mother has always embodied hard work and a “can do” attitude. So what better way to honor his mother than to have an entire show the week of Mother’s Day featuring working / successful women (minus Quincy as host, LOL). Fans will be entertained from the preshow with singer / jazz artist D’ Dutchess of Phenomenal Sounds to set that mature adult atmosphere before the comedy stylings of the “Chesapeake Charmer” Joy Julian who’s also a Breast Cancer Survivor, and from NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”… Erin Jackson. Opening act will be new comer on the scene, Jell Bell! Now that’s different people!!! <a

We’d like to thank all sponsors, performers, staff and those in attendance for helping us kick off the (Quality Comedy Series) 2013 season correctly last night! The preshow was awesome w/ acoustic guitarist Bryan Dunn. Quincy kicked off the season with one of his funny comedy video skits (Below) relating to what today is all about… LOVE! Once the crowd (approx. 137) had loosened up, Quincy hit the stage as host for the evening and prepared those in attendance for what was a very entertaining night of clean adult comedy; featuring David C. Wingfield and starring veteran comedian / magician Kevin Lee (seen on HBO, Fox, and in Vegas)! The Funny Bone, of course, provided an elite atmosphere for the mature adults to sit back and enjoy smooth live jazz and quality comedy that only this series promises to continue bringing throughout 2013. For future show dates, please <a

One month ago, Quincy’s co-worker informed him that America’s Got Talent was coming to Norfolk, VA to hold auditions for season 8. This was not just any old opportunity; as this was a perfect opportunity. The reason is, Quincy started his comedy career nearby (Va Beach) nearly 14 years ago, and in 2008 became licensed in Virginia to provide professional barber services (Cuts & Styles By Quincy Carr). So when this opportunity presented itself in his own backyard, Quincy knew he had to register for the “One Shot” chance to fulfill his 2013 goal of performing on TV by showing America who has talent!

Quincy believes he had a successful audition, leaving the producer wanting more by ending his performance shorter than the allotted 90 seconds; sticking with the idea that less is more when it’s already good. Whether Quincy makes it to the next level of this nation wide competition or not, he believes “A dream is only as good as the person that truly pursuits it!” As staff, we want to congratulate Quincy in advance and we hope he will have your vote America in 2013!

<iframe

Although, it wasn’t and all clean show, the 77 people in attendance seemed to appreciate the quality of the show regarding the caliber of comedians, FREE door raffles, and the hilarious sketch comedy video skit; all for just $10 on a Tuesday night! When the second show was presented, Quincy changed to an all CLEAN adult type of comedy show, and it has been growing every since. In 2013, the series still happens once a month, but the only change regarding this show is that it has been moved to Wednesday nights @ 8pm. So now you can remember this, “Your Hump Day just got funnier with the Quality Comedy Series!”

<iframe

If success is defined by the gaining of fame or prosperity, Quincy has only achieved a small portion of that. However, the Quality Comedy Series has more than exceeded expectations. Quincy has brought consistent numbers ranging from 45- 70 percent venue capacity; on an otherwise “dead” night (Tuesday) at the Virginia Beach Funny Bone once a month. This is clearly a feat not matched prior to the series kicking off on December 7, 2010 to the present. This strong blend of clean adult comedy, free door prizes, and even a touch of live preshow jazz provided by one of our major sponsors (Hampton Roads Jazz Lovers) has introduced both young and mature comedy fans of Def Jam, and Church humor to a great night of fun and quality entertainment.

On Tuesday October 23, 2012 at 8pm at the the Virginia Beach Funny Bone (217 Central Park Ave. Virginia Beach, VA 23462) Quincy Carr, Inc. presents the 10th show of this popular series.
